Congrats on Investing in a Coating For
Your Ride! Coatings are tremendously effective at protecting your OEM paint and maintaining a high paint gloss. However, they are not indestructible and need to be cared for properly.
You most likely invested in a Ceramic Coating because you wanted the high gloss finish, easier maintenance and, take pride in a clean vehicle. Well done, because with proper care your Coating can bring you all these benefits for many years to come. We just need you to team up with us by following proper maintenance.
It's no secret that Ceramic Coating does wonders for the Exterior of any vehicle but the real show-stopper is the impact on the interior. Once the coating is applied the maintenance is so easy, you won't spend but 10 minutes every couple of weeks to care for it.
We offer Ceramic Coating Maintenance Washes and Boosts to enhance the protection and performance of your Coating. The Coating is porous like skin and can get clogged with road contaminants which reduces the hydrophobic properties and shine. A Maintenance Wash and Boost completely restore the beauty of the coating.
You need to give Ceramic Coating time to fully cure on your vehicle. If you wash or otherwise agitate the surface, that can deter the curing process resulting in a shortened life span of the coating.
Once the 3-week Curing Period has passed, make sure you are washing your vehicle using the specific methods suggested below including Hand Washes, Touchless Washing, and Waterless Spray between washes.
Ceramic Coatings are not indestructible. Their lifespan can quickly be reduced by natural acidic contaminants. That means you should still remove any bird-dropping, bug-splatter, or tree-sap as soon as you can. Try to avoid parking under trees whenever possible. Tree sap, leaves, and branches can damage the coating by etching and scratching the surface
You might want to keep a quick detailer in your car and remember to blot as opposed to wiping, to minimize swirls and scratches in your finish.
All of the best things need time, Ceramic Coating is definitely one of them. The Ceramic Coating needs time to cure. Exposure to rain, sprinklers, water, and foggy conditions may lessen the performance and durability of the coating. It can also leave water spots that can only be removed by buffing off the coating and re-applying.
For best results, you should wash your vehicle every two weeks to avoid excessive contamination build-up. We strongly prefer a two-bucket hand wash to be completed at least every 60 days. While it isn't terrible to use foam cannons with a high-pressure hose, please see the preferred Washing Methods below. Avoid automatic brush-style car washes at all costs, the brushes are a notorious foe of both Ceramic Coating and Car Pain in general. Please also avoid high pH detergent-style cleaners, or any cleaning agents with added wax or petroleum distillates – as this may lead to scratching the coated surface.
If your vehicle gets dirty, or natural toxins like bird droppings, tree sap, or bug splatters – or if you simply want to detail your vehicle in-between maintenance car washes, use a Detail Spray to spot-clean the area with a clean microfiber towel.
A solid way to wash your Coating every few weeks is by using a high-pressure washer. It is best to rinse off all debris with fresh water first then use foam cannon to soap the vehicle. Let the soap settle for a few minutes then rinse with fresh water and dry completely. It's important to note that the soap brushes at self-service washes are the equivalent of using a metal rake to move soap around your paint- so whatever you do, avoid these and opt for the high-pressure soap. True abrasion is the only way to reduce the lifespan of your Coating.
Your Coating doesn't need wax to perform its best and actually won't even bond to the coating. Save yourself this step and if you notice your Coating needs a Boost- reach out to us to schedule a maintenance wash and boost.
If the vehicle is not overly dirty, this is the most effective and safest method.
Waterless wash products can help maintain the gloss level and lifespan of the film. Before using any new product on your wrap, be sure to test them in an inconspicuous area of the vehicle. We recommend using a standard cleaner that we can obtain for you if you would like.
Hand wash extremely dirty vehicles first and follow up with a waterless wash using the following steps:
We get it. You are busy and life doesn't always allow for waterless or handwashing.
Although hand washing is the preferred cleaning method, pressure washing may be used under these conditions:
NOTE: Excessive spraying at the incorrect angle may create abrasion of your Coating and reduce the hardness of the Ceramic.
An automatic car wash that uses brushes is not recommended. Brushes may scratch the wrap or catch the wrap’s edge and create a failure point.
There isn't a whole lot that an entire industry can collectively agree to, but the negative impact of automatic car washes on your Ceramic Coating or even regular Car Paint would be the one for us.
It is better to avoid washing your car altogether than risk the damage that may occur with the brushes, chemicals, and other potential hazards.
Super Easy - Occasionally wipe down with a damp microfiber cloth
Vacuum every couple of weeks and avoid leather conditioner or detail spray with wax
